Deer Fencing Field Day

Fencing For Your Farm: Setting Up Long-Lasting Deer Fencing to Protect Your Crops

In this all-in-one fencing field day, attendees will get to learn directly from Wildlife Damage Extension Specialists about the different programs the DNR has to support farmers experiencing crop loss due to deer pressure. With the fence posts set and ready to go, attendees will learn hands-on how to tension the fencing and install gates. Additionally, livestock farmer Matt Hardy will be on hand to talk about fencing options for livestock farmers and how to acquire this crop- and livestock-saving infrastructure.

This field day is open to everyone but will be particularly helpful for vegetable farmers who own land, vegetable farmers who are renting land, and livestock farmers who are interested in getting fencing. RSVP Here.

"Nearly every farmer I know experiences crop loss from deer pressure. The loss of market revenue can be a huge source of stress for farmers. It’s so important all farmers know the DNR has programs for landowners and leasers alike to reduce the stress and crop loss of deer pressure." - Matt Barthelemy

**Hmong language interpretation will be available upon request
